Many times, parents are so wrapped up in the pain of divorce that the children are forgotten...

Sometimes the children are basically holding on for dear life as they watch their parents act like lunatics as the family is torn apart.

In February 1990, I was working on a music video and it was featured in The Shawnee News-Star.

This song talks about a father failing to follow through with promises made to the children, but this is not the point of the song.  My hope is that this song helps both parents and extended family members realize the importance of putting the children first, and to be certain that the children are as secure as possible in the divorce process.

Will Daddy Disappoint Those Kids Again?

It's been three months since he's called
But they remember every word
Daddy's sending tickets for a trip

Momma pictures seeing them with a death grip on that phone
Just like they were holding on to him
Will Daddy disappoint those kids again?

They talk of him and she can see the sparkle in their eyes
She never contradicts his words even though they're lies
He's a hero of the world, as far as they're concerned
Momma prays her babies don't get burned
Will Daddy disappoint those kids again?

She hears them talking about the call they're getting Sunday night
At seven they were waiting by the phone
She tucks them in their beds and kisses them goodnight
And hears them say, "Guess Daddy wasn't home..."
Why would Daddy disappoint those kids again?

Will Daddy really come around and see them like he said?
Or will he call again and make more promises instead?
He's a hero of the world, as far as they're concerned
Momma prays her babies don't get burned
Will Daddy disappoint those kids again?
Will Daddy disappoint those kids again?
